University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH, also called Vietnam-France University) is established in 2009 under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France. USTH is a Vietnamese public university which meets international standards, with the ambition to become one of the most excellent research-oriented university in Vietnam.

USTH is the only university in Vietnam which is strongly supported by more than 40 French leading universities and research institutes, among them the most prestigious research organizations of France, for example National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, University of Lyon 1, University of Paris Saclay, University of Montpellier, French National Centre for Space Studies, the Paris Observatory, the French Institute of Research for Development.

After almost 10 years of operation and development, USTH has accomplished vital achievements in training and scientific research; thus is considered as the biggest cooperation project in the field of higher education of the French government abroad.

On November 2, 2018, the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam-France period 2019-2023 for the development of USTH was signed, showing determination and commitment of the two countries to make USTH to be an excellent university with international standard in training and research, especially to be one of the TOP university in the South East Asia.
